My name is Matthew Price and I was called as the Senior Pastor of Tabor City Baptist Church in December, 2018. My wife, Jessica, our daughter, Anna, and I come to you from Central Florida where I served as a pastor of youth and families.
I was born and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina and call North Carolina my home. My beautiful wife, Jessica, is a native Tennessean. She is a rock and helper for me. We truly complete each other. Together, we have ministered in Nashville, Louisville, Florida, and now North Carolina. Our sweet daughter, Anna, was born in 2014 while we were serving in Florida. Anna is the joy of our lives and a precious gift from God.
I attended Welch College in Nashville, Tennessee where I received my undergraduate degree in Bible and Church Music Ministries. From there, I attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where I graduated in May, 2014 with a Master’s Degree in Divinity. While at Southern Seminary, I had the tremendous privilege of serving in the office of President R. Albert Mohler, Jr., an experience I will forever cherish.
I love to cook, play the organ, go to Disney World, and watch Frasier; But my heart is in the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. I had always geared myself toward music ministry; But God used my college experiences, ministry opportunities, and godly friends to help me dig in to my calling as a preacher and teacher of God’s Word. I count it an awesome privilege to not only minister God’s Word, but to shepherd God’s people; And I count it a very special privilege to have been called to do that here in Tabor City.
One of my favorite quotes was the personal motto of the great reformer, John Calvin. This motto has become the prayer of my life and my ministry:
“My heart I offer to you, O Lord, promptly and sincerely.”
